Michael's mum Katherine to get $1 million a year from late singer's estateCourt documents released in LA have shown that Katherine Jackson – mother of late superstar Michael – will get more than $1 million (£606,000) a year from the king of pop's estate.
The sum is made up of $26,804 a month for Katherine and a monthly allowance of $60,000 for Michael's children, Prince Michael, 11, nine-year-old Paris, and Blanket, seven.
Details of the allowance, which was approved in August, have remained confidential until now.
Court papers show Katherine's money goes on an assistant, housekeeper, driver, utilities, clothing, grooming and other expenses. It is not known if any of her funds are being used to help other members of the Jackson family.
As far as how the children's allowance is being spent, the court documents state $315,000 per year goes towards employees caring for them while $160,000 is put aside for entertainment and other expenses.
Michael's mum, who is the children's legal guardian, wanted details of the money kept private but the judge presiding over a hearing this week said he did not think the total amount could remain sealed.
A further court hearing has been scheduled for October for a progress report on how the children are coping since their father's death.
Concerns were raised after Michael's daughter Paris paid an emotional tribute to her father at his memorial service in July.
