Jackson killed by greed

Michael Jackson was driven to his death by a mix of greed, power and money, one of his brothers claimed Thursday, while saying the star's doctor "had no business" giving him the drug that killed him.

Speaking before the manslaughter trial of medic Conrad Murray kicks off this month, Jermaine Jackson said those surrounding his brother failed to look after him, as they pushed him to play a lucrative series of comeback gigs.

He described how his brother's health had clearly deteriorated in the months leading up to his death -- when he was rehearsing intensively for the This is It shows in London -- but those around him had not told the family.

"Why didn't somebody call me or Jackie or Tito or Marlon or his family, to say, 'Come down here, your brother is not acting normal?' Had we been called, he would be alive today. We would have taken him to the hospital," he said.

Asked why he thought they didn't, he told CNN interviewer Piers Morgan: "Because they wanted the show to go on... It's all about -- this is a story about greed and power and money. And not looking at the person in Michael."

Murray is due in court on September 27 for the long-awaited manslaughter trial over Jackson's death in June 2009 from an overdose of the powerful drug propofol, prescribed to help him sleep.

Jermaine Jackson said the doctor's lawyers would try to paint his brother as a drug addict, but dismissed a suggestion that Jackson -- who suffered from chronic insomnia -- could have forced Murray to give him more propofol.

The drug is so powerful that it is used as an anaesthetic during surgery, he noted, adding that as a cardiologist and not an anesthesiologist, Murray "had no business giving my brother propofol."

"Being a doctor, you take an oath to care for your patient not to kill
them," he added.

Jackson's death, on the eve of the planned series of comeback concerts at London's O2 Arena aimed at reviving his reputation and finances battered by child sex allegations, stunned fans around the world.

Murray's defense team is expected to argue that Jackson gave himself an excessive dose of the drug while the doctor was out of the room at the singer's mansion in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood west of Los Angeles

Michael Jackson's "second family" — who had a secret relationship with the star for 25 years — have spoken for the first time about the late singer and his new album they helped record. Dominic Cascio worked at a hotel where the King of Pop used to stay. The two became friends, and Cascio invited him to his home where Jackson also met his wife, Connie, and children Eddie, Frank and Marie Nicole. Jackson would visit them whenever he could, often staying in the basement where he taught Eddie to play instruments and eventually recorded three songs with him. The songs feature on the posthumous album, Michael, which has been criticised by some of Jackson's friends, who have insisted the singer was a perfectionist and would not have wanted the songs released unless he was absolutely satisfied with them. But speaking to chat show host Oprah Winfrey about their relationship with Jackson — who Cascio said "always called us the family of love, his second family" — the family insisted he would be happy for the album to be released. They were supported by the music legend's long-time producer and friend, Teddy Riley, who dismissed claims that Jackson did not record the tracks with Eddie. "This is Michael's voice," he said. "No one else could do that scream." His wife added: "Michael was like part of our family. He was not like the King of Pop. I always used to cook his favourite food. I knew exactly what he loved and I would make it for him. He loved homemade pizza. He even took the garbage out one night." They also revealed that Jackson last visited their home in January 2009, and that they spoke to him just three days before he died....

The 29,070 ft² poster smashes the previous record by more than 110 ft²
London, UK (9 December 2010) – Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirms that a poster erected to mark the release of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ album (released 13th December) has set a new record as the world’s largest poster.
Guinness World Records confirmed that the poster of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ measures 171ft by 170ft with a total surface area of 29,070 ft², smashing the previous record – held by the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver – by more than 110 ft².
To put it into perspective, the ‘Michael’ poster would take over three quarters of the pitch at Wembley stadium, is longer than the equivalent of six Routemaster buses end-to-end and if upright would be higher than Nelson’s column.
The poster, made of PVC and weighing one ton, took engineers three hours to install – and is less than 3,000 meters from one of Heathrow’s main runways, literally viewable by all planes arriving/ departing.

Michael Jackson’s glove sells for $330,000

NEW YORK: Michael Jackson’s glove is getting some love. The King of Pop’s glove from his late ’80s “Bad” tour just sold at a Beverly Hills auction for $330,000, a US-based news agency reports. Julien's Auctions said the glove worn by Jackson sold for $330,000 (£209,000) at the "Icons & Idols" auction Saturday night. A jacket signed by Jackson brought in $96,000 (£61,000) and a fedora he wore on stage went for $72,000 (£46,000) at the Julien's Auctions event.Also hitting the auction block were his jacket and fedora, which sold for $96,000 and $72,000, respectively. Other high-priced items from the auction were an X-ray of Albert Einstein’s brain, which brought in $38,750, and two prescription drug bottles that belonged to screen siren Marilyn Monroe. The bottles sold for $18,750

Bollywood’s tribute to Michael Jackson

Bollywood has come up with its own way to pay homage to Michael . Spearheaded by Shahrukh Khan, the singers, music composers and actors in the industry have put together a music video in the memory of MJ. Titled ‘We lived in his world’, the song is written by Vishal Dadlani and also composed by him along with his partner Shekhar. The composer duo has teamed up with singers Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kay Kay and Shreya Goshal for the special song.
